The recovery barge, is designed to fit a wide assortment of model boat - hulls, because you never know what size boat - will need rescue? therefore - i've designed the barge, with twin pontoons, mounted upon a "spreader bar", so the twin pontoons can be adjusted to fit various size models.. I got tired of waiting for the wind to blow my r/c speed boat in if it quit out in the water and some times the wind wasn't blowing or it was blowing the wro.... It's a fun way to retrieve dead boats, but usually the limiting factor is the battery life of the boat, and the ability of the boat to bring the stalled boat back to the shore; it's often a slow and tedious process. so what's the answer? merge both techniques and create the ultimate boat retrieval system!.
Re: low cost recovery boat yea i gotta second that. i consider myself a strong swimmer( or was in my younger days lol) i spent 6 yrs on the local swim team, was a certified life guard, spent my entire life in or on the water, and i don't swim after my boats.. I am a firm believer the safest way to rescue an rc boat is from dry land. i have heard of more than one person drowning trying to rescue an rc boat from an inflatable boat that was accidentally punctured..
