The 11' dinghy-vee is in every way a beginners boat. you will have a boat that is stable, sails well and is grateful to sail. but don't make the mistake thinking it will be boring to sail this boat – it will not.. The dillon pro vee boat was designed with the 31.8 cubic inch johnson or evinrude in mind. this two-stroke, two-cylinder motor was manufactured in 20, 25, 30 and 35 horsepower versions from 1976 through 2005. it is the 35 horsepower model that we use in gt pro.. Furthermore, due to the mini vee's simple shape, it is easily stretched into a longer boat that should be able to carry larger motors, especially the smaller 3-cylinders, or motors in the 140-180 lb. range. i have recently added information about such changes to the plans package and the construction notes..
The narrow vee shape also needed more power for a given speed than the flatter bottomed boats. but by wining miami-nassau, breaking the old record by 32 minuets, in truly rough conditions, moppie established a whole new class of boat. sitka spruce and all her relatives are direct decedents of the hunt deep-vee.. I've tried searching for plans online but a lot of the boat plans i'm seeing are more for boats that they have like in alaska which are jet boat plans. to give you an idea the company called hankos.com they have a very nice boat design in the v hull i like a lot..
